Community Painting Day; Postponed due to weather

This event has been postponed due to weather. Please check back in a day or two, for an update.

Join us for Community Painting Day and help paint the mural being installed on the wall of the Brooklyn Detention House on State Street between Smith Street and Beorum Place.

 You are welcome to come between 1 and 3 PM on Monday, August 15th, 2011.

 The Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership are partnering with Groundswell, the NYC Department of Correction and the Nu Hotel to install a mural on the Brooklyn House of Detention this summer.

 The theme of the mural will be “restorative justice,” and it will be located on the Brooklyn  House of Detention along State Street between Boerum Place and Smith Street.

Brooklyn Beats at Dekalb Market, July 30-31

Mural Design Public Presentation-July 26th at 1PM

Macy’s and RIF Support Children’s Literacy – through July 31st

Macy’s has partnered with literacy advocacy group Reading is Fundamental (RIF) for a special promotion in support of children’s literacy programs which help put books in the hands of kids who need them the most. From now through July 31, Macy’s shoppers who donate $3 to RIF will receive $10 off a purchase of $50. Macy’s and Reading is Fundamental have partnered together since 2004 to raise more than $16 million.

Albee Square grand opening event on Friday, June 24!

Please join the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the Fulton Mall Improvement Association as we celebrate the opening of the new Albee Square public plaza (at Bond & Fulton streets), the completion of the Fulton Streetscape project and the ongoing transformation of Downtown Brooklyn.
