Afrikart located in Downtown Brooklyn

Afrikart is a boutique clothing, fabric, and jewelry store in Downtown Brooklyn that imports much of its product from Senegal, the birthplace of owner Amadou Diack. Mr. Diack founded the business with his wife Fatou Seck in 1992 when he noticed a strong demand for classic, custom West African dressware and jewelry in the Downtown Brooklyn area.

On a recent visit to Afrikart, we found him with a tailor’s tape draped around his neck consulting a customer on silk fabric color choices. “It’s busy here. During the summer time, women ask for dresses because of the warmer weather,” he said.
